Protected Spring -

Some communities have naturally-flowing springs that can be a great source of clean drinking water if they are protected from contamination.

PlayPump -

This solution improved on the hand-pumps by allowing children to pump water while spinning on a merry-go-round. The U.S. Government and celebrities donated millions of dollars to install PlayPumps in villages around Africa. But there were many problems: no maintenance plan, installed pumps without talking to people who lived there, not always enough children to operate the pump.

Hand Pumps -

When there is no natural spring a well is dug to reach groundwater and a hand-pump is attached for villagers to use.
